Journey Leader:

Debs Carter has been leading yoga safaris for over 11 years and been involved in the safari industry for over 23 years. Her yoga practice leans towards a more therapeutic style, helping her students create better body awareness and are perfect for both beginning and experienced students.  Her classes include pranayama (breath work), dyana (meditation), asana (poses), with savasana (relaxation) at the end. Debs is also well versed in leading guided meditation including walking, eating and various zen meditations. With a great sense of humour, Debs has a fun and light-hearted approach and is a passionate and inspiring journey leader facilitating the perfect body, mind and spirit balance one would hope for on a soul safari.

    

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: 1 Nov

On arrival into Kathmandu you will be met at the airport and transferred to the deluxe Yak & Yeti hotel. On arrival at the hotel you will receive a briefing on what to expect over the coming fortnight and have any of your last minute questions answered and meet your host and yoga instructor Deborah Carter. Your guide will recommend restaurants for you to have dinner.

Day 2: 2nd Nov

After breakfast today we have a guided tour of Kathmandu. Visiting the temple complex of Boudinath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, which is home to the living goddess and many palaces and temples.

Day 3: 3rd Nov

Today its drive, fly and trek to the Sanctuary Lodge located at an altitude of 3362 ft in the lower Himalayas. Enjoy a calming yoga practice with Deborah under the sunset view of the magnificent and unclimbed Machhapuchhare.

Day 4: 4th Nov

After an early breakfast, we trek to Gurung lodge situated at an altitude of 4756 feet.  From the lodge, there are clear views of Annapurna South and the surrounding peaks. Before dinner we’ll come together for a gentle yoga practice to help lengthen and stretch our muscles after the days trek.

Day 5: 5th Nov

This morning we start out trekking through the unspoilt village of Majhgaun. After about 4 hours, we arrive at Basanta Lodge in Dhampus arriving in time for lunch. The altitude of Dhampus is 5000 ft / 1525 meters. To help us with the altitude we will do a breath oriented yoga practice before dinner.

Day 6: 6th Nov

Before breakfast, Deborah will guide you in a walking meditation that you can continue as you trek today. After breakfast we trek and drive to Pokhara arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon is free to explore the lakeside with all its Tibetan curio shops.  There will be an optional yoga session back at the resort before heading out to dinner (your guide will suggest restaurants for you).

Day 7: 7th Nov

After breakfast, we transfer by road for 1 hour through local countryside to our rafting start point. After a briefing, we will float/raft for 3 hours with our raft crew to the Seti River camp, which is located on a sandy bank with views over the river.  The camp is the perfect setting for a revitalizing yoga session far from the madding crowd!

Accommodation is in large safari style tents with attached bathrooms.

Day 8: 8th Nov

Today we have a relaxing day at the Seti River Camp. This afternoon, join Deborah for a healing yoga practice before exploring the landscaped gardens, strolling along the riverbank, or just relaxing in a hammock.  The camp is in an area where few people go and is far away from any roads.  An idyllic place to explore the birdlife of the area and rest after the trek.

Day 9: 9th Nov

After breakfast, we raft to the road. Then drive to the edge of the jungle to Kasara Jungle Resort and Spa.  During our 2 night stay here, we have a number of activities available to experience including a jeep safari, and an elephant ride. Yoga will be on offer on both days at a time that suits us all.

Day 10: 10th Nov

Today will be a day of activities including an elephant ride, a canoe trip and a walking safari. We have a chance to view much of the flora and fauna that this region has to offer.  Including a good variety of birds and if we are lucky we may see the armoured rhino.  Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner where we can recount the magic and memories of our Yoga Safari.

Day 11: 11th Nov

After breakfast we drive and fly to Kathmandu, and back to the Yak & Yeti hotel. The late afternoon is free for any last minute shopping.

Day 12: 12th Nov

After breakfast today we say our fond farewells to our new found friends and transfer to the airport for our onward flights.

  • International flights and domestic flights not mentioned in the itinerary
  • Gratuities (these can be included for US$120 per person to cover the whole trip)

  • Travel documentation including visas and passports
  • Travel, personal and medical insurance

Optional Extra:

An optional mountain flight to view Everest could be pre booked and scheduled for day 2 before the sightseeing begins. This lasts 45 minutes and costs US $250 including transfers. This will be booked prior to your arrival, but will be paid locally so if the flight is cancelled, the money can be refunded in Nepal.  Please note that this price is subject to change. Please let us know if you would like to book this special flight at the time of booking to avoid disappointment.

Specific terms and conditions relating to this tour are as follows:

  • This exclusive journey can only accommodate a maximum of 10 people. Please book early to avoid disappointment.
  • Accommodation is based on a twin/double share basis. Single supplements are available at US$ 900 per person.
  • To secure your space, a deposit of US$ 1 500 is due at time of reservation. The full tour cost is due by the 1st August 2014. For bookings received after 1st August 2014, full payment will be required at time of booking.
  • Please note that we require minimum numbers for this tour to operate. Should the minimum number of participants not be reached, we will re-cost the journey based on the number of confirmed guests or, if possible, tailor make an itinerary best suited to your requirements. If confirmed participants choose not to accept the new costing or tailor made alternative, the journey will be cancelled and a full refund of the payment received will be given.
  • The tour has been costed in US$ as all expenses are in the same currency. This protects our clients from currency fluctuations and hedged conversion rates. Actual bank rates on the day of payment will apply.
  • Payment can be made by direct bank transfer or by credit card through PayPal. Credit card payments via PayPal will be subject to a 5% admin surcharge to cover fees.
  • Cancellations after payment of the deposit or balance are subject to the following penalties:
  • Up to 90 days prior to departure, client deposit will be refunded subject to an admin fee of US$ 500.
  • Should a cancellation be received between 90 – 0 days prior to the arrival date, 100% cancellation penalty would be charged. The relevant cancellation policy applies should the guest fail to join or start their journey for any reason, including airline delays or missed connections. Please ensure adequate travel insurance is in place for this eventuality.
  • Individuals are responsible for their own personal comprehensive medical, travel, cancellation, curtailment and default, baggage and flight insurance for the duration of their trip. Personal items, such as jackets, cameras, purses or daypacks are the sole responsibility of the owner. Due to the remote areas in which we operate, it is vital that all guests are covered for emergencies and other unforeseen circumstances. We cannot be held responsible for any guest traveling without insurance. We strongly recommend tour participants take out personal travel insurance.
